| This national society recognizes people who have provided outstanding volunteer service and financial support of $10,000 or more annually in their communities. It is named for the French aristocrat who applauded, immortalized and wrote about America’s spirit of voluntary efforts for a common good. This spirit is alive and well in Portage County.
Specific objectives of the program are to:
- Enhance local recognition of long-standing service volunteers in ways that foster voluntary community service.
- Expand high-level personal giving and major giving programs.
Each year, United Way of America publishes a book listing the names of all Society members from across the nation. The United Way of Portage County has three Alexis de Tocqueville Society members. |
