STRATEGIC VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT

Strategic Volunteer Engagement can be described as building and deepening relationships with people who care about their communities by inspiring and inviting them to take an active role with United Way. As a type of Strategic Volunteer Engagement, this past winter, employees from AIG Travel made 100 Weatherization Kits in less than two hours. The kits were made to help low income families stay warm during the cold season. These kits are being distributed through Energy Services and CAP Weatherization Program in Stevens Point.

VOLUNTEER TIME OFF

Volunteer Time Off (VTO) policies are a quickly growing trend among many local businesses. These companies provide a certain number of hours per year for employees to volunteer in the community. The Volunteer Center at United Way of Portage County wants to know if your company offers VTO.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY

Each Make A Difference Day, the United Way Volunteer Center helps give frail and disabled residents peace of mind while increasing their independence.  Plan now to join us with family, friends or coworkers on October 28, 2017.

In 2016, more than 700 hard working volunteers came together to clean up 150+ yards of residents in Portage County. Volunteers included school groups (from elementary to college), Boy and Girl Scout Troops, corporate groups, families, churches, service organizations and more. Raking requests and volunteer sign-up will begin again in August.
