Emerging Leaders Volunteer
Did you know June 21 is the longest day of the year?
That day has more sunlight than any other day, so why not use it to volunteer and bring light into someone's life?!
United Way Emerging Leaders of Portage County, a program designed to work with the next generation community leaders who want to make a difference in their community, will join United Ways across the country in our first ever Day of Action on June 21. Day of Action gives Emerging Leaders an opportunity to mobilize and inspire others in our community to seek ways to Advance the Common Good on the longest day of the year.
Advancing the common good involves creating opportunities for a better life for all. When individuals, organizations, governments and businesses set aside their special interests and work together, we can make a difference. Living United means being part of the change and in order to do this, we need volunteers like you.
Emerging Leaders of Portage County is calling all volunteers!
We are working to recruit forty volunteers to help us paint the basement of the Boys & Girls Club-Plover location. This opportunity will take place on Tuesday, June 21 starting at 5 p.m. Each volunteer is asked to bring their own paint brush and/or paint roller as an effort to keep costs down. Pizza and soda will be provided for all volunteers during the evening.
This is a great opportunity for area young professionals to take the first step in becoming more fully engaged in the future of our community. Day of Action is also an opportunity for volunteers to network with like-minded individuals while getting their hands dirty and giving back to our community.

Day of Action is meant to inspire everyone to take action not only on one day, but on other days throughout the year. The idea of thousands of people across the country volunteering to create a better place is how we LIVE UNITED.
