2016 Campaign Drive Chairs team up with United Way to donate paper to local schools

Long before becoming Campaign Drive Chairs for 2016, the Hofmeister family – through their family-owned business, Spectra Print – were strong supporters of United Way of Portage County.

Their in-kind support of printing the nonprofit’s campaign brochures, pledge forms, coupon book, posters and numerous other projects has allowed United Way to keep fund-raising and administrative costs below 14-percent.

United Way honors individuals, organizations for support during 2015 campaign

United Way of Portage County honored dozens of volunteers and businesses for their support during the 2015 campaign at its annual Recognition Luncheon Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Holiday Inn in Stevens Point.

The 2015 Campaign Drive Chairs – Timmy and London Cooper; their children, Lucy, Eloise, and Phineas; and Timmy’s parents, Bob and Nancy – in their final duty in the role thanked the more than 225 United Way supporters at the luncheon for their efforts during this year’s campaign that raised more than $2.8 million to help people in this community.

Engagement Specialist hired for Early Years Collaborative; steering committee formed

United Way of Portage County recently hired Lisa Falduto, Plover, to work with the community organizations as they develop programming for the new Early Years Collaborative.

Announced in August as part of its 2015 campaign kickoff, the Early Years Collaborative will focus on children during the early years from prenatal to age 5. United Way of Portage County will work with a number of community partners on the collaborative.

United Way Recognition Luncheon set for Feb. 9

United Way of Portage County will hold its 2015 Recognition Luncheon Tuesday, Feb. 9, at noon at the Holiday Inn & Conference Center in Stevens Point. Register for the event by clicking this link.

INDIVIDUAL HONORS: United Way of Portage County will honor several longtime individual supporters, as well as those who helped make the 2015 campaign a record-setting effort, during the event.

United Way Annual Meeting set for Jan. 20

The 2016 United Way of Portage County Board of Directors will hold its annual meeting Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 4:30 p.m. at Mid-State Technical College, 1001 Centerpoint Drive, Stevens Point.

Mark Hilliker of Community Care of Central Wisconsin will serve a second term as Board President in 2016. Hilliker has been on the Board since 2010, and assumed Board presidency in 2015. He currently serves on United Way’s Executive Committee and has led strategic planning for United Way of Portage County. The meeting agenda will include the election of new officers.

United Way receives $1,000,000 Sentry Insurance donation

Sentry Insurance and its employees broke the $1 million mark with their 2015 donation to the United Way of Portage County. The total includes employee pledges, special events fundraising and a matching donation from the Sentry Insurance Foundation.

“You are leaders, contributors, you are the truth, you are honor, humility, compassion and love,” said Sue Wilcox, United Way of Portage County Executive Director speaking to the Sentry Insurance celebration gathering. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a $1 million campaign.”
