Summer Internship: Beginning June 2 – August 20 10-15 hours per week

$13.00/hour

PCI eligible with UW-Stevens Point preferred

Must be available the week of August 11-16

United Way of Portage County is seeking a Marketing & Events Specialist Intern to help enhance awareness of our organization by using several marketing tactics and assist the Volunteer Center with the coordination of summer events. This paid internship will be tailored to the individual to help them grow and learn skills before entering the workforce.

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly organized with great attention to detail, and has strong interpersonal skills to perceive and react sensitively to the needs and interests of donors and volunteers. Graphic design, videography, or photography knowledge is a plus (but not required).

You Will:

  • Assist with developing and posting social media posts highlighting the work of United Way.
  • Assist in designing and writing content for monthly newsletters.
  • Assist in designing materials for our 2025 annual campaign.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the United Way Website and Volunteersrock.org.
  • Draft and send press releases to local media outlets.
  • Writing editorial copy for print materials as well as the website.
  • Help coordinate and lead teams of volunteers.
  • Help plan, promote, and execute our summer events including: 
    • Community Diaper Drive
    • Annual Campaign Kick-off
    • Summer Sizzles
    • Project Fresh Start
  • Some administrative duties are also part of this position such as answering phone calls and emails.
  • Assist in coordinating and seeking vendors for the United Way Annual GIVE AND GET Coupon Book
  • Collaborate across departments and assist with creating marketing material for other internal programs.
